Create your own Classroom Website
Classroom websites can be used in many different ways. The biggest part of a website is communication between the teacher and students or parents. Through a classroom website a teacher can give students and parents the ability to access class information from anywhere at anytime. That way, they do not have to wait for the teacher to respond to an email, text message or phone call. If you have a classroom website, you can post homework for the students, daily messages about what is going on in class and what is coming up. That way anytime the students forget what they need to be working on, they can just go to your website to find the homework or the daily lesson. Also, parents do not always know how to help their child do the homework that is sent home. When you post the homework, you can then post a video about how to complete the homework. This can be a refresher for the student along with showing the parent what is being taught in class. These are just a few ways that a classroom website can be useful, but the possibilities are endless!
To get started with your classroom website, you need to choose a platform to use. I have used Weebly for all of the websites I have created for several reasons. The main reason is that Weebly is very easy to use! The drag and drop format of weebly makes it easy for anyone to figure out how to use it. I have my 3rd and 4th graders creating their own websites and we are using Weebly with them. If you choose a platform other than weebly, then my directions below will not be of use to you. If you are using weebly, you can use the tips and directions below to get started creating your own website.
